Week 14

This week Brad and I went for my first ultrasound.  I'm always nervous to go to the doctors because of my fear of needles but today I was especially anxious.  I couldn't help but wonder if I really had a living human being growing inside me.  I have never really 'felt' pregnant.  I guess I lot of new moms feel this way too.  As soon as the doctor brought the ultrasound wand to my tummy there it was!  A tiny baby floating around.  It was swimming and twirling and waving its tiny hands at us.  This made me laugh (almost uncontrollably).  I don't know who was happier to see each other.

A lot of women report that they just feel like they know the sex of their baby.  From the beginning I have 'felt' it was a girl.  I feel a special bonding when I see other little girls.  But either way, boy or girl, I will be delighted.  I guess we will all now in about 5 weeks.

I'm still keeping with my daily excerise routines and even added hiking.  Its so beautiful to hike in Arizona during the winter-perfect temperatures minimal sun.  Hiking is challenging but a bearable challenge.  The only place I feel it is I get out of breath much easier.  Another noticeable change this week is the sharp pains in my back are a little more frequent.  Don't worry though, this is pretty common.  It usually happens when I am about to stand up or switching positions while sleeping.  Food wise I have slowed dramatically.  I don't feel hungry all the time and my portions are smaller meals throughout the day.
